Guinea is rated one of the poorest countries in Africa. |
| Geography: | Mangrove swamps and lagoons of the coast and the cultivated coastal plains are backed by the Fouta Djalon highlands in the east. The northeastern savannah is cut by rivers flowing towards the river Niger's upper basin. Southwest the forested massif rises to 1752m at Mt Nimba on the border with Côte d'Ivoire. |
